The Group Council (our scout group leadership core) met on the evening of September 26, 2012, and chartered our Midtown/South St. Louis-based group 66th Confluence BPSA! In attendance were Bridgett & Mike Wissinger, Kathleen Carson, Ben Niesen, Jeff Kopp, and Beqi Brinkhorst. We chose 66th as our ordinal in honor of Route 66, the iconic, historic highway that ran right through the heart of the city, and we chose the name “Confluence” after the confluence of the two mightiest rivers in North America, the Missouri and Mississippi, which converge in St. Louis.
We will begin our Scouting adventure with a first for the BPSA: Scouts representing all three youth sections (an Otter Raft, a Timberwolf Pack, and a Pathfinder Troop), with a total of more than 30 youth Scouts. And, of course, we will also have an adult Rover Crew that will include all youth section leaders.
With all of this out of the way, we now need your help!
The BPSA-US operates with a volunteer staff both locally and nationally, keeping program costs low and funds going to activities for our scouts. In addition, BPSA-US does not do any door-to-door sales fundraising and thus is dependent on the support of the community to help make traditional, inclusive scouting accessible for all young people.
Please help us and the national BSPA-US movement get off the ground and support our fundraising campaign! And if you are interested in becoming involved directly with our local group, please get in touch with us at 66thconfluence (at) gmail.com.
